Our resident wine writer is Maxine Borcherding, Sommelier and former Lead Chef Instructor at Oregon Culinary School and owner of the Taste and Compare Academy of Wine, Spirits and Food. She’s a knowledgeable force in the food and wine industry and loves making it accessible and understandable.
Her articles are engaging and run the gamut from wine tasting notes, growing practices, to the terrior, wine maker features, to her highly regarded food and wine pairing recommendations.
Chef Borcherding is a graduate of the International Sommelier Guild, Sommelier Diploma Program. She also is a French Wine Scholar Instructor through the French Wine Academy, a Spanish Wine Educator with the Wine Academy of Spain and a Wine Location Specialist with distinction from the Center for Wine Origins. Chef Borcherding is currently completing a certification as a Master Instructor for the Rhone region through the French Wine Academy.
